Changing a photo shouldn't require a developer. Neither should updating a price, adding an article or fixing a typo. If your team wants to manage the website day to day, WordPress is often the right foundation, as long as it's set up so that editing is actually easy.

I build and redesign WordPress websites for businesses in Mauritius and abroad. The work covers two sides: the public website your visitors see, and the editing experience your team uses every day. Both get the same attention.

How I make WordPress easy to edit

A WordPress site becomes hard to manage when everything is crammed into pages. The answer is to give each type of content its own place. On the Baystone Boutique Hotel website, that meant three tools working together:

  • A custom plugindedicated sections for rooms, services, experiences, FAQs, testimonials and team. To change a room photo, the team opens the room, edits it and saves; it updates everywhere it appears.
  • Elementora visual page builder, so the team can adjust page layouts and sections without touching code.
  • Yoast SEOtitles, descriptions and sitemaps managed from the same admin, for every page and every room.
  • Forms that feed the adminavailability requests from each room page are sent to the hotel and saved as leads, so no enquiry gets lost.

The tools change with each project; the principle doesn't: structured content where it changes often, visual editing where layout matters.

Already on WordPress?

Baystone already had a WordPress site. The hotel had just been renovated and the design no longer matched it. We kept WordPress, because the team knew it, and rebuilt everything around it.

If your WordPress site has become slow, outdated or hard to edit, I start by reviewing the theme, plugins, hosting and content. Sometimes targeted fixes are enough; sometimes a rebuild is the better investment. You'll get an honest recommendation either way.

When WordPress is the right choice

WordPress suits company websites, hotels and hospitality, service businesses and blogs: sites where content changes often and your team wants control. It's less suited to software with complex rules, multiple user roles or heavy workflows. For those, a web application is usually the better path.

For online stores, WooCommerce adds products, checkout and payment to WordPress. If a store is part of your project, we'll check together that it's the right fit: the size of your catalogue, the payment provider and the running costs.

What you get at handover

A website you know how to use. I walk your team through the everyday edits (text, images, rooms or products, articles), explain which plugins are installed and why, and make clear who takes care of updates, backups and hosting. The first month of maintenance is included.
