Baystone Boutique Hotel
Baystone had just been renovated, but its website hadn't. I redesigned it on WordPress with a custom plugin, so the team can change rooms, photos and content in a few clicks, and guests can request availability from every room page.

01Challenge
Baystone is a boutique hotel and spa in Mauritius. The hotel had just been renovated, but its WordPress website didn't show it: the design was dated and no longer matched the new rooms and spaces.
The team wanted to stay on WordPress, because it's familiar and easy to edit. But they needed a site they could actually manage: change a photo or a room description in a few clicks, without calling a developer.
What made it difficult
- The new design had to feel premium, worthy of the renovation, while staying simple to edit.
- Rooms, services and experiences change regularly, so content had to be structured, not hard-coded into pages.
- Guests needed a way to check availability for a specific room directly from the site.
- Everything had to work in English and French.
02Solution
I rebuilt the website on WordPress with a custom design, combining three tools: a custom plugin for the hotel's structured content, Elementor for page layouts, and Yoast SEO for search.
Content the team can edit
The plugin adds dedicated sections in the WordPress admin for each type of content: Rooms & Suites, Services, Experiences, FAQs, Testimonials and Team. Each one is a simple form. To change a room photo or description, the team opens the room, edits it and saves; the page updates everywhere it appears. For the rest of the site, Elementor lets the team adjust pages visually.
Room pages
Each room has its own page, with gallery, description, capacity, bed setup, size and amenities. Guests can compare rooms in detail, and every room page can rank on its own in search engines.
Availability requests
Each room page has a reservation form: the guest picks the room, check-in and check-out dates and number of guests, and sends the request. It's an availability request rather than instant booking, so the team checks the dates and replies to each guest personally.
Every request is sent to the hotel's admin and saved as a lead in WordPress, so no enquiry gets lost.
Bilingual from the start
Rooms, services, FAQs, navigation and SEO metadata all exist in English and French, managed from the same admin, with Yoast SEO handling titles, descriptions and sitemaps.
03Results
Baystone now has a website that reflects the renovated hotel, and that the team runs on its own.
- A design that matches the hotel: large imagery and a premium feel that show the renovation.
- Updates without a developer: photos, rooms, services and FAQs are edited in a few clicks.
- Availability requests from every room page, with each enquiry saved in the admin.
- Fully bilingual, for local and international guests.
- Easy to extend: a new room, service or experience is a new entry, not a new page to build.
